Regional-Emigration-Databases

Research and Travel has supported and developed the creation of regional databases. Following is a description of four databases that are available online. The link opens a new window to display the data.

Emigration from the Former County of Delmenhorst 1830 - 1930

In 1999 the regional database DELAUS was put into operation in the City Museum of Delmenhorst. Based on research in the archives on location and in the State Archive of Oldenburg, DELAUS provides approx. 1,000 names and detailed statements of origin.

Online-Datenbase DELAUS

Emigration from the County of Cuxhaven 1830 - 1930

The database CUXAUS documents approx. 5,000 names of emigrants from the todays county of Cuxhaven for the time from about 1830 to about 1930. As a pilot project, CUXAUS-Online was introduced as a multimedia-database including many documents. As an online version it is presently however, in limited operation. A visitor terminal is located in the HAPAG-Terminal in Cuxhaven.

Emigration from the Counties of Cloppenburg and Vechta 1830 - about 1875

The counties of Vechta and Cloppenburg are among the most prominent emigration regions of Germany. CLAUS documents approx 6,000 data records with precise statements of origins from this region. A visitor terminal is located in the Open Air Farm Museum in Cloppenburg.

Emigration from Bad Laer in the 19th Century

A higher-than-average amount of emigrants left Bad Laer in the Osnabrück-area during the 19th century. Research and Travel developed this database in connection with a project named “Bad Laer – Teutopolis” indicating a prominent destination of Osnabrück and Oldenburg emigrants in Illinois.
